EASY CHECKERBOARD DINNER ROLLS

INGREDIENTS
- 2 tablespoons everything bagel seasoning or poppy seeds
- 2 tablespoons sesame seeds
- 2 tablespoons grated or finely shredded Parmesan cheese
- 1 egg
- 1 tablespoon water
- 1 lb frozen white bread dough , thawed according to package direction and cut into 16 pieces
DIRECTIONS
Spray an 8x8-inch square baking pan with cooking spray
Place the everything bagel seasoning, sesame seeds and Parmesan cheese each in a separate small bowl. In another small bowl, whisk together the egg and water
Form each piece of dough into a ball. Dip half of each ball in the egg wash. Then dip the egg covered half of the roll into the bagel seasoning. Repeat with three more balls of dough, dipping one into the sesame seeds, one in the Parmesan cheese and leaving one plain. Repeat process with remaining balls of dough. There should be 4 dough balls with everything seasoning, 4 dough balls with sesame seeds, 4 dough balls with Parmesan and 4 left plain (with egg wash only). Alternate rolls in the prepared pan with the coated side up.
Cover with plastic wrap let rise at room temperature for 45 minutes. Meanwhile, heat oven to 375 degree F.
Bake for 20 to 25 minutes or until golden. Remove rolls from pan to wire rack to cool.
Tip: Everything bagel seasoning is a fun, flavorful topping typically consisting of salt, sesame seeds, dried onion and garlic flakes and poppy seeds. It can often be found in the spice section of the grocery store. Poppy seeds make a nice substitution
Tip: We used an 8x8 metal baking pan for this dish. It?s the perfect size for the rolls and the metal pan helps give them and even browning. You can remove the rolls together, in one piece, and let them cool, then serve them on a plate or platter as a pull-apart experience.
