INGREDIENTS
  • 1 pound 80% lean ground beef
  • 1 tablespoon pure vegetable oil
  • 1 large yellow onion thinly sliced
  • 4 Swiss singles cheese slices
  • 8 slices rye bread
  • - butter

DIRECTIONS

Prepare grill to medium heat. Salt and pepper beef to taste; form into 4 patties. Place burgers on grill; grill, turning once, 7-14 minutes or until internal temperature reaches 160°F on an instant read thermometer.

Meanwhile, in medium skillet heat oil over medium-high heat. Add onions and sauté until golden brown.

Place cheese slices on burgers and remove from grill. Place burgers on a slice of rye bread. Top with onions and second slice of bread.

Lightly butter bread and place on a flat skillet over medium heat. Cook until golden brown on both sides, turning once and firmly pressing sandwich together with a spatula.
