GRILLED STEAK
with Gorgonzola Mushroom Sauce

INGREDIENTS
- 4 premium angus porterhouse or t-bone steaks
- 1 tablespoon olive oil
- 2 3.5 ounce packages shiitake mushrooms stems removed, sliced
- 2 tablespoons minced shallots
- 1 teaspoon minced garlic
- 1/4 cup dry sherry
- 1/2 cup half & half
- 4 ounces gorgonzola cheese crumbles
- 1 teaspoon chopped fresh thyme leaves
- - dash cayenne pepper
DIRECTIONS
Prepare grill to medium heat. Season steaks with pepper to taste. Place steaks on grill. Grill turning once, 10-20 minutes (depending on thickness) or until desired doneness is reached (145°F for medium-rare; 160°F for medium). Remove from grill; season with salt to taste.
Meanwhile, in large skillet, heat oil over medium-high heat. Add in mushrooms, shallots and garlic; salt and pepper to taste. Sauté 3-5 minutes or until softened.
Add in sherry; reduce until almost evaporated. Stir in half & half, gorgonzola, thyme and cayenne. Simmer, stirring frequently, until cheese is melted and sauce has thickened slightly. Serve over steaks.
